The Amazing Mr. John
Jones - NEC Project Manager for the Smelter Project
Who can you believe these days? That is the 2.4 billion dollar question.
Mr. John Jones, the NEC frontman for the smelter project had a lot to say in the Trinidad
Guardian report on Aug. 10th. He claims that Alcoa is on its own now when it comes to the
Chatham smelter. He claims that the CEC application for the smelter (the same application
that Alcoa claims they never filed even though they proudly boasted about filing it on
their own web site) was withdrawn because the government is no longer partnering with
Alcoa. Wow, this will save tax payers a cool 2.4 billion dollars, yet not even one mention
about this in any major newspaper. Isn't this headline news? So who is the John Jones? We
wanted to find out and discovered that he co-signed both the CEC application for the
smelter and the planned port in Chatham. But when we looked at the signature pages of
these two applications, we found that this man had gone a complete personality change in
two months. There seem to be at least two John Joneses Please pay close attention to the
two signatures on two different CEC Applications below:
The CEC Application for the Alcoa
Smelter - Chatham 11/01/05 - "Signed" by John Jones, NEC
The CEC Application for the Port,
Chatham 16/03/05 - "Signed" by John Jones, NEC
Does this look like the same person to you? Will the real John Jones
please stand up!
